Policing For Profit

While I agree that asset forfeiture is an unjust practice, I strongly object to the term "policing for profit."   That is an unjust and dangerous misuse of the word "profit."

Had DISD "Properly Maintained" the school for all these years, it would still be in proper condition for use. Doesn't anyone DISD's "Maintenance" department ever understood the purpose of a SUMP PUMP, or are they simply brain dead. If the existing school building is STRUCTRUALLY SOUND, why tear it down to creat new ballfields and parkiing lots (most elementary grade students do not need parking lots).

Moses Said To The Children Of Israel

Over five thousand years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel
"Pick up your shovel, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to the promised land."

Nearly 75 years ago, Roosevelt said, "Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, and light up a Camel, this is the promised land."

Now Obama has stolen your shovel, taxed your asses, raised the price of Camels, and mortgaged the promised land!

Furthermore, I was so depressed last night thinking about health care plans, the economy, the wars, lost jobs, diminished savings, Social Security, retirement funds, etc. I called the suicide help line. Got a freakin' call center in Pakistan. I told them I was suicidal and they all got excited and asked if I could drive a truck!!

The Famine of 1966 Is The Anti-Famine of 2010

Overfed Think of the Children At Risk

Congress is preparing to reauthorize the Child Nutrition Act, the legislation that determines school food fight policy. As the Act is reauthorized only once every five years, we better get to fixing this disaster now.  This is an opportunity to shape the future of school food, particularly in light of the First Lady's challenge to end childhood obesity in a generation.  Michelle Obama hates fat kids

Farmer's wanted in on the The Act because they sell a lot of boiled vegetables to government wholesalers who then force government schools to purchase them for final consumption by kids who are being told that tomato sauce is a vegetable.  In late 2009, the expiring school food program was temporarily extended through the Help Destitute Farmers and Ranchers Act otherwise the kids would starve which provides funding for several new programs, including:
  • $85 million to provide access to gruel during the summer, that time of year when the kid's parents refuse to feed them;
  • $25 to help schools purchase cafeteria equipment; and
  • $25 million to help states to automatically enroll children in the School Lunch Program because manually enrolling them was a hassle.

=====

Secretary of Texas Chicken Ranchin' Tom Bil-Jac comments - "I strongly support a robust bill that improves program access and achieves the First Lady's goal of solving the epidemic of kids taunted with the nickname "Fats"."

"The health of our nation – indeed, our national security – depends on our children. We will not succeed if any of our children aren't learning collectivism as they should because they are hungry, and cannot achieve their potential because they aren't healthy. This act is the opportunity to improve the complexions of our children and reduce hunger of the starving masses in this country."

More information about USDA'S ( U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Subsidies ) efforts to improve child nutrition can be found at www.usda.gov. Additional information on the First Lady is here.

The Child Nutrition Act came alive in 1966 (hint: LBJ was president ) During the signing of the act, the president remarked that "Good nutrition is essential to good book learning. Now, everyone grab themselves a beer and let's get to stuffin' those ballet boxes."

They spent $85 million for the ‘warning’ letter.
Further, the whole pitch makes it sound like that if we comply with the Census, we’ll get our fair share of “the money”. So, if that’s the case, let’s all put down that there are 100 people living at our houses……then the money will really start pouring in…..

In 2004 I decided to redistrict Texas. I figured that if Eddie Bernice Johnson could build herself a district, maybe I could too.

Now EBJ had more and better resources than me.  She and the committee for reapportionment were working with servers and work stations and software coupled with the full force and power of the government along with the millions of dollars budgeted to the project.
I went to work with a pocket calculator, a couple of Texas maps with county lines, a Microsoft Works spreadsheet set up to quickly sum multiple numbers and the population counts of Texas counties and cities from the previous census.

I spent 2-4 hours daily for perhaps 5 evenings playing with the arrangement of District lines.  Viola - done.
San Antonio, Houston and Dallas did not receive the full treatment of a drawn line.  They each got a post-it note saying "3 Reps" or similar.  Everything else had a line drawn - not a new line mind you but common, known lines - city limits and county limits.

Each district was within 10,000 residents of the others or something pretty close to that. Except for the large cities mentioned, each line was a well known city or county boundary - No gerrymandering, no racial or socio-economic quotas.  Anyone could have understood where the Congressional district boundaries lay.
I did it for almost no cost.

If the federal government really wants to increase compliance with the census, it should abide by the Constitution and limit its inquiry to one simple question: How many people live here?

A Parable For Representative Dan Branch

                                                                                                                                 revised

The Libertarians gathered on Harry Hines Boulevard, each with a declaration in his heart proclaiming "We are the friend of tax payers, families, business owners, laborers and the foreigner residing in this land.  We understand what is necessary so that each individual can be his own master without revoking the natural rights of his fellow man."

Some who gathered with them but whose hearts were hard, believing in protecting incumbents, rule by bureaucrats and big hair, were shills attempting to promote the incumbent by criticizing a certain candidate nominee, saying,
"Behold, he is a gluttonous man and a drunkard,  or so I've been told by a friend of a friend.  Let us support another, who is called RINO but is actually the prototypical Republican who desires to reign serve for as long as the money is good. We promise that the incumbent will act differently in the future because he's a firm believer in pragmatism over principle and has for four terms been voting with the wealthy and blessed."

And THE CROWD ROARED WITH LAUGHTER at this silly suggestion saying "Get thee behind us Republicans, for we have chosen to proclaim release to the captives, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.  You lack one thing: a decent respect to the nature of mankind.
Divest yourselves of the few teachings provided by the government schools and come with us to Liberty."

And when Mr. and Mrs. Peanut heard this, they were exceedingly sorrowful: for they had great wealth which they had obtained by using legislative power to......

Funnel the people's resources towards themselves.
Eliminate competing businesses.
Destroy jobs to curry favor with others.
Harm the people's health with an illusion of safety.
Create business monopolies to stifle commerce.
Aid in the destruction of the environment.
Encourage aggressive banking in order to create and benefit from economic cycles.
Foment the ignorance of the masses by providing faulty educational resources.
Prevent the poor from aiding themselves through business creation.
Allowing Texans to die in the Mexican Drug War by refusing to remain neutral.
Convince themselves that the people are stupid and need the wisdom of the legislature not only for jurisprudence but for natural reasoning.

Wyatt Earp Was A Libertarian

A Cowboy in a saloon one Saturday night,  recognizes an elderly man standing at the bar who, in his day, had the reputation of being the fastest gun in the West.
The young cowboy took a place next to the old-timer,
bought him a drink and told him the story of his great ambition.
‘Do you think you could give me some tips?’ he asked.
The old man looked him up and down and said,
‘Well, for one thing, you’re wearing your gun too high.
Tie the holster a little lower down on your leg.’
‘Will that make me a better gunfighter?’ asked the young man.
‘Sure will,’ replied the old-timer.
The young man did as he was told, stood up,
whipped out his .44 and shot the bowtie off the piano player.
‘That’s good shootin' !’ said the old man.
‘Got any more tips for me ?’
‘Yep,’ said the old man. ‘Cut a notch out of your holster where the hammer hits it. That’ll give you a smoother draw’
‘Will that make me a better gunfighter?’ asked the younger man.
‘You bet it will,’ said the old-timer.
The young man took out his knife, cut the notch, stood up, drew his gun in a blur, and then shot a cufflink off the piano player.
‘Wow!’ exclaimed the young cowboy ‘I’m learnin’ somethin’ here. Got any more tips?’
The old man pointed to a large can in a corner of the saloon.
‘See that axle grease over there? Coat your gun with it.’
The young man went over to the can and smeared some of the grease on the barrel of his gun.
‘No,’ said the old-timer, ‘I mean smear it all over the gun, handle and all.’
‘Will that make me a better gunfighter?’ asked the young man.
‘No,’ said the old-timer, ‘but when Wyatt Earp gets done playing the piano, he’s gonna shove that gun up your ass, and it won’t hurt as much….’

I Sent This Note To Eddie Bernice Johnson

A few days ago I read a press release regarding Ron Paul's Office Budget.

I got to thinking and telephoned Eddie Bernice Johnson at her Dallas Maple Avenue office.
The person I spoke with said "I'll need to submit this request to the office manager."  That was last Friday 3-5-2010.

Today Monday AM I sent the following note via email from EBJ's web site.  I'll keep you informed of her response.

Representative Johnson:
I recently learned that our fellow Texan Ron Paul returned tens of thousands of dollars to the taxpayer from his office expense account.  After speaking to your Dallas office by telephone I eagerly await the chance to review your office budget for such items as hired help, utilities, and ground rent.

I hope this info will be posted publicly on your web pages. Please advise me regarding where this information can be found.
