Billy died....  His will provided $30,000 for this elaborate funeral. As the last guests departed the affair, his wife, Joyce, turned to her oldest and dearest friend, Jonelle. "Well, I'm sure Billy would be pleased," she said.

"I'm sure you're right," replied Jonelle, who lowered her voice and leaned in close. "How much did this really cost?"

"All of it," said Joyce .. "Thirty thousand dollars."

"No!" Jonelle exclaimed. "I mean, it was very nice, but $30,000?"

Joyce answered, "The funeral was $6,500.  I donated $500 to the church. The whiskey, wine, food and snacks were another $500..  The rest went for the Memo
rial Stone."  Jonelle quickly computed the total of $7,500 and said "$22,500 for a Memorial Stone?  My God, how big is it?"

Joyce answered, "Two and a half carats
”.

Letter of the Law

After the Oconee County, South Carolina, courthouse opened seven years ago, federal officials found the $8 million building contained 93 violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act. For instance, the centers of the toilets are 19 inches from the wall, not 18 inches as required. And the mirrors in the restrooms are 41 inches from the floor, not 40. It will cost just over $2 million to bring the courthouse up to standard. The county sued its architect and builder, and they will pay a little more than $1 million for the work, leaving taxpayers on the hook for the rest.

Economics For Locavores

Economics For Locavores

How can we possibly gather enough information to compare the opportunity costs of land, fertilizers, equipment, workers, transportation and energy costs (among many others) and reach a conclusion about which tomato imposes the fewest costs on our neighbors?

Well, it turns out there’s actually a way to do that. You do it by looking at a single number that does an excellent job of reflecting all those costs. That number is known as the price of the tomato.

How Obama Revived The Freedom Movement

Why Social Security needs to retire

====================

Answers From History

Are not our leaders honest and fair ?  Do they not act in my best interest?
"Most people prefer to believe that their leaders are just and fair, even in the face of evidence to the contrary, because once a citizen acknowledges that the government under which he lives is lying and corrupt, the citizen has to choose what he or she will do about it. To take action in the face of corrupt government entails risks of harm to life and loved ones. To choose to do nothing is to surrender one's self-image of standing for principles. Most people do not have the courage to face that choice. Hence, most propaganda is not designed to fool the critical thinker but only to give moral cowards an excuse not to think at all." -- Michael Rivero

I'm right wing / left wing - How could that ever lead to socialism?
"Socialism needs two legs on which to stand; a right and a left.  While appearing to be in complete opposition to one another, they both march in the same direction." -- Paul Proctor

Will not our leaders willingly divest themselves of the power granted to them?
"Those who have been intoxicated with power... can never willingly abandon it." -- Edmund Burke

Is the Constitution a ‘living’ document whose meaning and purpose changes?
"How strangely will the Tools of a Tyrant pervert the plain Meaning of Words!"
-- Samuel Adams

Would not a socialist culture better provide for our needs?
"Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy." -- Winston Churchill

The Gay Marriage Problem ------ SOLVED

More info and a link to the text

FROM THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY PLATFORM
1.3    Personal Relationships
Sexual orientation, preference, gender, or gender identity should have no impact on the government's treatment of individuals, such as in current marriage, child custody, adoption, immigration or military service laws. Government does not have the authority to define, license or restrict personal relationships. Consenting adults should be free to choose their own sexual practices and personal relationships.

Muslim Honor Killing In America

They [the clergy] believe that any portion of power confided to me, will be exerted in opposition to their schemes. And they believe rightly; for I have sworn upon the altar of god, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man. But this is all they have to fear from me: and enough, too, in their opinion.

As cities sharpen the budget ax, what proposed cuts, if any, have you worried to the point that you'd be willing to pay more in taxes to maintain a higher level of service?
For example, if you don't like the proposed library cuts in Dallas, are the cuts so bad that you'd be willing to pay more? What other areas under city government would you be willing to pay more tax dollars to see spared from the budget ax? Police? Fire? Water? Garbage pickup? Parks? Arts? Recreation centers? Senior centers? …

USA Manufacturing - Largest In The World

Michael-CloudPERSUASION
POWER
POINT #293

Why Don't They Get It?

by Michael Cloud

Why don't most politicians understand that they can't borrow their way out of debt?

Why don't they see that the federal government can't spend itself solvent?

Why don't most politicians realize they can't tax Americans into prosperity?

Confused ManWhy don't they grasp that government "stimulus spending" does NOT create private sector jobs?

Why don't politicians get that "closing tax loopholes," "eliminating tax deductions," and "allowing temporary tax cuts to end" -- all raise taxes?

Why don't they catch on that increasing government debt and taxes and spending does NOT create or grow small businesses?

Why don't they get it?

I have several hypotheses. But I don't know.

What's more, I don't need to know why.

Because it doesn't really matter. Not to me. Not to you.

Why?

Because all I need to know it that they don't get it.

If they were capable of getting it, they would have gotten it by now.

Why don't YOU AND I get that they don't get it?

And stop wasting our time and energy talking with them.

Why not talk with, campaign for, donate to, and vote for only those candidates who DO get it? Those who vote that way. Every issue. Every time. No exceptions. No excuses.

Why not talk with people who have not seen or heard or thought about these things?

Why not talk with people who are open-minded, receptive, and responsive to evidence and argument?

Why not talk with those who can get it?

there are 3 types of people in this world:
1.people that want to control these people believe that thier ideas should be followed volintarily or by force.
2.people that want to be controlled unfortunately they will never admit this, but will agree with anyone in a suit (or robe) that speaks slowly and eliquently.
3. people that dont want to control or be controlled these people want to live life with 100% freedom and responsibilty. unfortunately they often get tired explaining this philosophy to group 2. hence, group 1 maintains control.

the moral kids, is this, as long as group 1&2 is > group 3, this world will stay fucked.

pretty sure thats all mine. but if someone else said it. give them credit just to be safe.

The lie of U.S. manufacturing decline – repeated ad nauseam – conveniently paves the path for greater government control over the economy.

The possibilities to spark the kind of economic “renaissance” envisioned by Mr. Obama and friends are endless.

I am thoroughly convinced that this administration, while possibly brilliant at winning elections and pandering to special interest groups, as it pertains to economics, is dumber than a box of rocks.

The Dallas Tea Party Looks For A Fight

Drama In Real Life

Yesterday evening was my second event with these guys.   They have many traditions, one of which is that almost everyone has a nickname such as Pussy Galore, Stinky Cheese Man or Kindergarten Cunt, names that they proudly wear.  At one beer check I was approached by a woman (I was strategically standing midway between the cold beer and the satisfied empties.).

   What's your name?

'That Damn Libertarian' but you can call me Tim.

How did you get that nickname?

Gave it to myself.  It started with my motorcycle group.

   [shocked] You can't nickname yourself.

Yes, I can nickname myself.  I did ..... because I'm ... That Damn Libertarian.

[angry] I get it - Libertarian ... you won't do as your told. [she walks away]

Now, I'm aware that many of you Tea Partiers are High School Teachers, Staff, Administrators that love our country and want to see it return back to it's Founding Principles.  I'm calling on YOU to step forward.  You are integral in this initiative.  We're starting Tea Party Clubs in High Schools across America.

I need High School Teachers, Staff, Administrators to take the lead in starting a Tea Party Club in YOUR High School.  Because rules and requirements are different in each school, I need you to help us setup a Tea Party Club.  This request is more of an Administrative request than running a Tea Party Club.  It would be great if you want to be involved ongoing with the group but if you can't, that's fine.

This group will be an opportunity for America's Youth to discuss issues that are affecting their future and what they can do to make their young voices heard.

If you are a High School Teacher, Staff or Administrator, please reply back to this message.  I will be providing more information once we identify our group.  When you reply, please list your name, school name and ISD.

If you have an email list that you can forward this message, please do.  I'd like to have Tea Party Clubs spread across America this Fall!!

Let's do it One School at a Time!

When will they learn ?

Basic Flying Rule:        Stay in the middle of the air.
Do not go near the edges of it. The edges of the air can be recognized by the appearance of ground, buildings, sea, trees and interstellar space. It is much more
difficult to fly there.

Government is a net wealth consumer. Most of the wealth possessed by "the wealthy" lies in productive investments. Transferring wealth from the latter to the former makes us all poorer by promoting consumption over productivity. --

Open at random any book on philosophy, politics, or history, and you will probably see how deeply rooted in our country is this idea — the child of classical studies, the mother of socialism. In all of them, you will probably find this idea that mankind is merely inert matter, receiving life, organization, morality, and prosperity from the power of the state. And even worse, it will be stated that mankind tends toward degeneration, and is stopped from this downward course only by the mysterious hand of the legislator. Conventional classical thought everywhere says that behind passive society there is a concealed power called law or legislator (or called by some other terminology that designates some unnamed person or persons of undisputed influence and authority) which moves, controls, benefits, and improves mankind. -- Frédéric Bastiat

"The liberty of a people consists in being governed by laws which they have made themselves, under whatsoever form it be of government; the liberty of a private man, in being master of his own time and actions, as far as may consist with the laws of God and of his country." -- Abraham Cowley
